So, In case you are even the least bit interested where in the latest internet practice of reciting “Rabbit rabbit” 2xs (some versions list saying 3xs) upon waking up each first day of the month, here it is...It’s a superstition in some English-speaking countries where a person says "rabbit", "rabbits" or "white rabbits" upon waking on the first day of a month, to ensure good luck for the rest of it. Why rabbits you ask? Rabbits are an ancient symbol of fertility and life, as well as a religious symbol of spring and rebirth and symbolize long life, tranquility, prosperity, craftiness, and skill. Good choice in appointing the rabbit. IN the early 1900s the first written reference to the superstition appeared in an issue of the British journal Notes and Queries. The Nottingham Evening Post reported in November 1935: President of the United States Franklin Delano Roosevelt has admitted to a friend that he says 'Rabbits' on the first of every month. In recent times, the tradition has been kept alive by shows like Nick Days by Nickelodeon .Even actress Sarah Jessica Parker has posted "rabbit" on Instagram on the first day of the month.
What if you forget to say "rabbit rabbit”? If you forgot to say "rabbit, rabbitbut you still want to give it a try, you're in luck. According to word historian Martha Barnette, you can say "tibbar, tibbar" (rabbit rabbit spelled backwards) and still be in the clear
