A Year of Moon Magic

Have you ever stood on the shore at night, enchanted by a Full Moon and the path it creates on the dark waters? Maybe you have been awakened from a deep sleep as the Moon pours Her bright light into your window. If so, then you have had a tiny sampling of Moon Magic!

The Moon is synonymous with magic, and has captivated, bewitched, and intrigued many since the beginning of time! Unlike the Sun, whose energy is male and permanent, the Moon is pure feminine energy and signifies change and transformation. We bear witness to this transformation each month as the Moon goes through her never ending cycle of phases.

This year, instead of making resolutions that are almost impossible to keep, try using the energy associated with each phase to bring about your own personal transformation.

The Phases:

New Moon — Sometimes called the ‘Dark Moon’, this is the perfect time for planting seeds, be they seeds in your garden or seeds needed for personal growth. The best time to begin new projects.

Waxing Moon — The time during which the Moon is changing from New to Full. Work to bring things your way, and things that require more physical energy are best done at this time.

Full Moon — This phase yields the most power of all! Be sure to work only for the highest good and promote positive energies. Matters of the heart are best worked during a Full Moon. A Full Moon is the most magical of nights!

Waning Moon — Good for endings as the energy is on the decline. Work to banish negativity or rid yourself of bad habits.

Full Moon Names:

January — The Full Wolf Moon
February — The Full Snow Moon
March — The Full Worm Moon
April — The Full Pink Moon
May — The Full Flower Moon
June — The Full Strawberry Moon
July — The Full Buck Moon
August — The Full Sturgeon Moon
September — The most famous of all — The Harvest Moon!
October — The Hunter’s Moon
November — The Beaver’s Moon
December — The Full Yule Moon or Full Cold Moon

I hope you will open yourself to the magic and mystery of the silvery orb that hangs in the night sky.
